Rob Records - Executive Chef, Rick Erwin’s West End Grille

Meet Rob Records, the accomplished Executive Chef of Rick Erwin’s West End Grille, whose culinary journey spans over 30 years and reflects an unwavering dedication to excellence. Originally hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Rob’s passion for the culinary arts led him to attend culinary school in the early 1990s, setting the stage for a lifelong commitment to the restaurant industry.

In his extensive career, Rob has consistently been on the culinary side, garnering invaluable experience and wisdom. A fundamental lesson learned early in his career was to always listen to the executive chef, respecting the kitchen as the heart of the culinary craft. This principle has shaped his approach to leadership and mentorship.

In September 2023, Rob brought his culinary expertise to South Carolina, where he seamlessly balanced the role of Executive Chef at Rick Erwin’s West End Grille with the establishment of a small horse farm. His ability to manage both endeavors underscores his commitment to diverse passions, both inside and outside the kitchen.

Beyond his culinary prowess, Rob finds fulfillment in teaching, coaching, and training young chefs, providing them with the guidance and knowledge needed to embark on successful culinary journeys. His belief in fostering the pathway to success and fulfilling the dreams of aspiring chefs is a testament to his commitment to the growth of culinary talent.

Remarkably, Rob has had only three jobs in the last 25 years, a testament to his belief in investing his heart and soul into the success of the restaurant and its employees. As the Executive Chef at Rick Erwin’s West End Grille, Rob Records continues to exemplify culinary excellence, leadership, and a passion for nurturing the next generation of chefs.

Sebastian Grier - General Manager, Rick Erwin’s West End Grille

Meet Sebastian Grier, the distinguished General Manager of Rick Erwin’s West End Grille, who recently celebrated a remarkable 10-year work anniversary with the Rick Erwin Dining Group. Born in Charlotte, NC, and raised in the heart of Greenville, SC, Sebastian’s journey has been shaped by a passion for the performing arts and an unwavering commitment to delivering unparalleled dining experiences.

Having honed his artistic skills at the Fine Arts Center and Governor’s School for Arts & Humanities, focusing on acting, Sebastian graduated from J.L. Mann High School in 2009. His educational journey continued at Greenville Tech, laying the groundwork for a career seamlessly blending the magic of hospitality with the art of performance.

In 2011, Sebastian’s venture into the fine dining scene began at Devereaux’s as a server assistant, marking the inception of a career spanning over 15 years in the hospitality industry. The realization that hospitality is a form of performance, akin to his love for acting, fueled Sebastian’s dedication to creating memorable dining experiences.

Having managed Rick Erwin’s Eastside, his hometown, Sebastian found a unique opportunity to give back to his community. This endeavor allowed him to express gratitude to those who played pivotal roles in his upbringing, including educators, mentors, and neighborhood friends.

Guided by his mother’s wisdom – “You treat and take care of people the way you want to be treated” – Sebastian embraces the simplicity of this principle as the foundation of his genuine approach to hospitality. Throughout his career, he has been involved in training and opening multiple Rick Erwin’s locations, including Clemson, Eastside, and Level 10.

Beyond the world of hospitality, Sebastian finds joy in the performing arts and the thrill of fast cars. His strong work ethic, passion, keen situational awareness, and attention to detail define his professional ethos. Joining guests at Rick Erwin’s West End Grille, Sebastian ensures a seamless blend of artistry and hospitality, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
